With you, there is hope
Update: Barbara's surgery was a success. She will remain at the hospital through 10/13/2024 for monitoring!
Barbara is in surgery as I write this, and I need your support to get her through this.
Last month, Barbara arrived with only half of her udder. Originally used for 4-H, a family bought Barbara to breed and raise her lambs for slaughter.
She developed an infection in her udder. The family used home remedies to “treat” it, but Barbara needed veterinary care.
The tissue turned necrotic and black, and half her udder fell off. Because Barbara could no longer nurse, the family did not want to breed her. They felt their only option was to send her to auction and slaughter.
You can give her the veterinary care she deserves.
And that’s why, today, Barbara is in surgery to remove the remaining udder. Anesthetizing any animal comes with risks, but those risks are higher with ruminants like sheep. There is also a large blood supply that runs to her udder. We hope that because the tissue is already dead, the blood supply will not be as great.
This surgery will run around $2,500 - it has to be performed in a sterile environment with Barbara under full anesthesia.
Your donation goes toward her surgery and recovery!
